FIND YOUR NORTH STAR: 5 Steps to Clarity
*A mini-guide to help you cut through noise and reconnect with what matters*
By Steffen Moessner
Introduction
These five steps are ones I return to again and again with my clients (and in my own life). Use this guide to get out of autopilot and start steering. Take 15-20 minutes, grab a notebook or journal, and move at your own pace.
Step 1: Notice the Noise
You can’t change what you don’t notice.
-
Reflect: What voices or pressures cloud your thinking right now?
-
Try This: Write down 3 recurring thoughts that loop in your head. Circle the one that causes the most tension.
Step 2: Define It
Get honest about what you value—not what others expect.
-
Reflect: What do you want more of in your life?
-
Try This: List 5 things you care about deeply. Star the one you feel most disconnected from right now.
Step 3: Spot the Scripts
We all run on stories. Some don’t serve us.
-
Reflect: What belief do you keep repeating that might not be true?
-
Try This: Write 1 sentence you often tell yourself (e.g., "I’m not good enough"). Ask: Whose voice is that really?
Step 4: Reframe & Rewrite
Empowerment starts with the words you use.
-
Reflect: What would I believe if I trusted myself?
-
Try This: Flip one old belief into a new one. Example: "I must always please" becomes "I deserve love even when say no."
Step 5: Take One Step
Clarity is nothing without movement.
-
Reflect: What one action could move me closer to what matters?
-
Try This: Pick a small, 5-minute step (a text, a walk, a boundary) and do it today.
Keep Going!
If this sparked something in you, let’s keep going.
